The work is presented as truth exploring the possibility of the impossible, floated in a grounded reality. It retains subtle manipulation of allusion and absurdity to expose a sincerity in presentation, the approach is a fragmentation of concept and existence.

This artwork explores death on a sociological and scientific level. Using similar elements, techniques, and materials from Victorian Memento Mori Jewelry I am reconstructing the forms into modern wearable pieces. Memento Mori Jewelry was made in remembrance of a loved one who have died and serves as a reminder of the mortality of the wearer/viewer. Personal connections are removed from these pieces to eliminate emotions associated with personal loss. This allows me to question and confront the broader subject of mortality and death.

As a painter, I am interested in the unification of chaos and order in the pictorial space. I paint like the action painters of the 1940’s. I slop, slap, drip and definitely scrape paint in thick and thin layers. I like to build with paint, construct worlds of abstraction in the process.
